"I saw firsthand the immense impact Eddie Jordan had in helping the Nets reach two NBA Finals and as the head coach in Washington he consistently put his teams in a position to win on a nightly basis," Stefanski said Friday night. "He embodies all the qualities I was looking for in the next head coach of the Sixers and we are very excited to have him in Philadelphia."
It has been rumored that Jordan signed a multi-year deal worth about 4 million per season. The Sixers will have a news conference to announce Jordan as the next head coach sometime on Monday.

Let's see: Eddie Jordan hired as Sixers head coach, Peter Nowak hired as Philly Union's first head coach & GM. Which is more interesting? I'd say it's a toss up, though maybe the nod should go to Nowak who at least has a winning track record (only player in MLS history to win titles as both player, with Chicago Fire, and as coach, with D.C. United). It's a pretty sad commentary when a soccer team, of all things, outhires a major market NBA franchise. But a quick glance at Jordan's less-than-impressive resume (it would be an overstatement to describe it as mediocre) indicates that this is precisely what happened. The Sixers would be a joke if anyone bothered to notice them -- but they're apparently content to continue laboring in obscurity in near-empty arenas for many years to come.
