As the title of this article suggests, Mitch Williams is a bum. I don't know how this guy still has a job in the great sports city that is Philadelphia. It wasn't enough that we had to watch him blow Game 4, and obviously most notably Game 6 of the World Series. But now we have to listen to this jackass every day on the radio or tv, talking about our Phillies. Not only that, his whole nonchalant attitude toward the 1993 World Series is flat out annoying. He jokes about one of the most painful moments in Philadelphia sports history. And we are supposed to accept him back into our town with open arms? Count me out. I can remember watching the World Series in '93 as a 10-year old crying after "Wild Thing" gave up the home run. And for him to joke about it today is an insult to every die-hard Philadelphia fan.
Mitch Williams belongs on some ranch in Texas eating his salsa, joking about the World Series with the rest of his friends. He is horrible on the radio, and horrible on Comcast also. An off-the-record inside source recently stated, "he brings no analytical skills to the table." Even if he did, it would be meaningless. Mitch Williams was run out of town once, and should be run out of town again, if it is the last thing we do.
I can't say it any better than a true Philadelphia athlete who we all loved, Lenny Dykstra, who about the home run stated "That was just one of many he gave up. It's painful. It makes me tired to think about it. That was a great team, those fans were awesome. Mitch Williams is a joke. It's painful dude. He brings up bad memories." I couldn't agree more Lenny. Mitch Williams is a chump, who doesn't deserve to have the backing of the great city that is Philadelphia. We don't need someone who brings up painful memories, and gives us nothing as an analyst.
So I urge all Philadelphia fans to do your part so we can get this joke of a man, asshole Mitch Williams out of town. Also, his salsa sucks.

Wow. Strong words. Truth be told I like Mitch Williams and while Game Six will forever be sketched in my memory bank as it was my first dissappointment as a Philly sports fan, I have both forgiven Williams and respect him for the way he carries himself. He went through a lot of ignorant crap after Game Six including death threats to him and other threats to his family. The man was a class act about owning up to his poor pitching and really has never shied away from it. That is something to commend I feel.
While you guys may not like Williams you should realize that he is still a human being and is making an honest earning talking about the sport he loves.
I tend to agree with the article, I hope Mitch Williams gets out of town sooner rather than later.
A few years removed, and look where Lenny and Mitch are. Lenny's broke and in jail. Im sure you know where Mitch is. Lenny was on steroids for the bulk of his career. Blaming Mitch for losing the world series is like saying Mitch wasnt a huge reason the Phils went.
In 1989 I moved away from the Philly area but returned for one year, 1993, and attended about 40 home games in the Vet that season. In the time I had been gone my childhood neighbor married Mitch Williams. She wasn't anyone I kept in touch with but she and her family were decent people. The horrific treatment that the newlyweds were shown in their new and modest home, just a mile from our childhood neighborhood, was almost too much for me to bear. It was easy to imagine what they were going through and it was just as easy to see it was fan-on-fan crime. Death threats, vandalizing their property, and god-knows what else. Mitch Williams, gasoline boy as we affectionately called him, carried himself with a sense of humor after that. He never trash talked the fans for trying to trash his life. What I remember that season is that Mitch was a critical part of getting us there and he made it fun the whole way. He always had me out of my seat. And he didn't ditch Philly. He invested in the local community as a local business owner, participating in his wife's family business. He did everything right. Meanwhile Dykstra, bad-mouthing his own teammate, proved himself even worse than the boneheaded jerk he showed all those years ago.
I say we get the "asshole" who wrote this article run out of town and back to his mama's knee to learn some respect. Mr Williams got us to the World Series. Ya'll need to remember that. I know Mr Williams & noone hurt more than he did after that "GAME"!

There is no need to loud mouth the man who got the team to that position. Mitch might be stupid but he has done some significant contributions to the team. However, his skills in anchoring are far worse than his nerves in tense situations.
